A Powerful Inclusive Look at My Latest Book I AM HER

Some books begin as an idea. Others begin as reflection.

I AM HER came from that kind of place. It came from the quiet moments, the hard lessons, the private prayers, and the truth that kept rising to the surface no matter how many times life tried to bury it. This book is personal. It is reflective. It is honest. Most of all, it is a reminder that identity is not something handed to us by the world. It is something we come back to, claim, and live in.

Writing this book gave me space to put language around strength, womanhood, healing, and self-recognition. It allowed me to speak to the parts of myself that were once uncertain, tired, guarded, or afraid. It also allowed me to honor the woman who kept showing up anyway.

I AM HER by LaTesha Monique is more than a title. It is a declaration.

This book is about becoming and remembering

There is a difference between becoming someone new and remembering who you were before life told you to shrink.

That idea sits at the heart of I AM HER.

So many people move through life carrying labels they never chose. Strong one. Quiet one. Broken one. Responsible one. Difficult one. Not enough. Too much. Those labels can begin to feel like truth when they are repeated often enough. This book pushes back against that.

It asks a deeper question.

Who are you when you stop measuring yourself through pain, fear, rejection, or other people’s opinions?

For me, that question opened the door to a larger message. The woman in this book is not perfect. She is not untouched by struggle. She has cried. She has questioned herself. She has had to rebuild parts of her life from the ground up. Yet she still stands. She still learns. She still believes there is more inside her than what she has survived.

That is the heart of the book.

Why I chose the title I AM HER

The title is simple, but it carries weight.

I AM HER is not just a phrase. It is an affirmation. It is the moment a woman looks at everything she has been through and says, “I still know who I am.”

Those three words hold confidence, but they also hold healing. They speak to the woman who has doubted herself and the woman who is learning to trust her voice again. They speak to the woman who has been overlooked and the woman who is finally choosing to see herself clearly.

When I chose this title, I wanted it to feel bold without being performative which we all know I'm a big performer when I'm on stage but off stage is a different story. I wanted it to feel like something a reader could carry in her spirit. Not as a mask. Not as a slogan. As truth.

“I am her” can mean many things, depending on where a person is in life.

It can mean:

  • I am the woman who survived what was meant to break me.

  • I am the woman who is still learning, but still worthy.

  • I am the woman who no longer abandons herself.

  • I am the woman who can be soft and strong.

  • I am the woman who chooses growth over shame.

That is why the title matters. It leaves room for the reader to find herself inside it.

The heart behind the words

Writing a book like this requires real hardcore honesty and vulnerability.

It is easy to talk about strength after the storm has passed. It is harder to write from the place where healing still feels tender. I wanted this book to carry that kind of honesty. I wanted to put together my life experiences, lessons learned, reflections, poetry, scriptures that I used to pray and meditate on and my knowledge as a certified life coach.

There are parts of life that people rarely see from the outside. They see the smile, the responsibilities, the public version of who we are. They may not see the moments when we have to encourage ourselves just to keep going. They may not see the inner work that happens in silence every single day.

I AM HER gives language to some of that inner work.

It speaks to growth that does not always look pretty. It honors lessons that come with cost. It does not pretend that becoming confident means never feeling fear again. Real confidence often looks like moving forward while fear is still in the room.

That is an important part of the message. Healing does not always arrive with a loud announcement. Sometimes it looks like setting a boundary. Sometimes it looks like forgiving yourself. Sometimes it looks like waking up and deciding not to repeat the same cycle.

The book holds space for all of that.

Who this book speaks to

Although this book comes from my voice and my heart, I believe it will speak to many people through my own transformation so I made it into a guide that others can use to and it may work for some and others may need more but this is what made me after a diificult season last year.

It is for the person who has ever had to rediscover their worth. It is for the woman learning that being strong does not mean carrying everything alone. It is for anyone who has felt unseen, then slowly learned how to see themselves. It is for readers who enjoy words that feel reflective, heartfelt, and grounded in real emotional truth. It is for people who believe in Christ. It is for people who can do reflections. It is for people who enjoy poetry. It is for people who learn from overcomers.

There is power in reading something that makes you pause and say, “I know that feeling.”

That is what I hope readers experience with this book. I hope they find lines that stay with them. I hope they feel understood. I hope they close the book with a little more belief in themselves than they had when they opened it.

The message I hope readers carry with them

If there is one message I want readers to take from I AM HER, it is this: you are not limited to the version of yourself that pain introduced you to.

Pain can be loud. Disappointment can be convincing. Fear can make the future feel smaller than it is. But none of those things get the final say.

This book is a reminder that identity can be reclaimed. Confidence can be rebuilt. Peace can be protected. A new chapter can begin, even after seasons that felt heavy.

I also hope readers give themselves grace while reading. Growth is not always instant. Self-love is not always simple. Healing can take time. Some days will feel strong, while others may feel uncertain. That does not mean progress is lost. It means we are human.

The woman who says “I am her” is not saying she has everything figured out. She is saying she is done denying her worth.

That kind of statement matters.

What writing this book taught me

Writing I AM HER taught me that truth has its own timing.

Some words came easily. Others took longer because they required me to sit with myself. That is part of the writing process. A book can ask more from you than you expect. It can ask you to be brave on the page before anyone else ever reads a sentence. I was nervous about revealing my process but I felt I should.

This process reminded me that storytelling is not only about sharing what happened. It is also about sharing what was learned, what was healed, and what now deserves to be spoken with clarity.

I learned to trust the message. I learned to honor the voice behind it. I learned that a book does not have to be loud to be powerful. Sometimes the most powerful words are the ones that feel true.

And this book is true for me.

A book for the woman who is ready to claim herself

I AM HER is my latest book, but it is also a piece of my heart.

It carries the spirit of resilience, reflection, faith in the future, and deep self-recognition. It speaks to the woman becoming more honest with herself. It speaks to the woman who has had enough of shrinking. It speaks to the woman who is learning that her story still has beauty, even if some chapters were painful.

My hope is simple. I want this book to meet readers where they are and remind them of what still lives inside them.

Strength. Wisdom. Softness. Courage. Worth.

If this book finds its way into your hands, I hope it feels like a mirror and a reminder. I hope it gives you a moment to breathe, reflect, and say the words with your whole heart.

I am her.
